Is American health care the best in the world?

The answer to that questions is no. According to careaboutyourcare.org, Americans spend more on health care per person than the people in any other country around the world. Because of that, we assume that we are getting the best health care available. However, the care we receive is low in quality and high in cost, compared to other countries.

On the other hand, although our doctors and nurses are capable of providing excellent care (and they often do), for a few reasons the care provided is not consistent for enough people, and there is a gap between the care we should get and the care we actually receive. This is true especially when it comes to the treatment of chronic conditions that affect a huge number of people, including diabetes, asthma and heart disease.
